I almost fell out of my chair in the legislature today as the Conservative Party read a resolution praising their years of fiscal management. I guess they are in the same dream world as the NDP who think they have no responsibility for the massive growth in expenditures and deficit in their first budget in the fall.
Today there will be an emergency debate on the fact the NDP decided to kill the CAT ferry from Yarmouth to New England. It’s hard to understand why the NDP would stick with this decision when we now know area communities had raised half of the subsidy for this year and the government has to pay the other half anyhow. So there appear to be no savings for this year and without a replacement service hundreds of jobs are at risk primarily in Southwest Nova Scotia.
Maybe we'll get some answers from the NDP today, but likely not. We'll probably just get platitudes…
